This story is published in Muslim Journal This Feb Issue.

We have all heard about the horrible earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12th. According to the Haitian Red Cross, it has taken the
lives of around 100,000 people and has left 1/3 of the population hurt
or homeless. We mention them in our prayers, we make our donations,
but, still, YRAC wanted to do more.

The YRAC HAITI AID MISSION

We are pleased to announce that YRAC plans to sends two medically-trained members, a mobile clinic, and a small medical and rescue team to Haiti. Because they are allowing very few flights into Haiti, we still aren't sure of the exact date of departure, but preparations have been made.

Thanks to the diligence of members who have been making phone calls, posting links and updates online, making visits to gather materials and mobilizing resources, we have been able to raise medical supplies, plane tickets and other travel costs. We feel blessed to be able to contribute in such a tangible way, but we still need your help.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Would you like to visit Haiti and make a hands-on contribution? Our doctors are looking for assistants.
Individuals will be trained to do setup and a range of laboring tasks.
We have room to sponsor 2-3 individuals who have passports and  meet our volunteer requirements. For more information email info@yrac.us

We would like to thank,
HOPE Worldwide, American Red Cross, American Airlines, Google Inc. and the YRAC Members for all their support.

Jan, 16 - Updated info and a message from

ER physician Zaid Alshawaf - I am a Syrian emergency physician
and i practice medicine in Overseas Chinese hospital in China where i
currently live. I have worked in 2 other earthquakes rescue missions before,
thats in Sichuan May 2008 and Indonesia Oct 2009. The idea here is to setup
a mobile clinic where i can treat an average of 200 to 300 patients or
casualty per day in 10 to 12 working hours a day. i usually bring the meds
and equipment from here in China where i am allowed to prescribe drugs and
supplies in large quantity and ship it off with me on plane. 22nd is the
soonest i can be on ground but that is not too late because we treat the
living not the dead and the dying always get treated first by other fully
equipped rescue missions (field Hospital). mobile clinic save lives by
diagnosing and treating minor to sever injuries and illnesses and preventing
it from developing, also mobile clinic gets to those who cant get to a
hospital i can also treat bone fracture on site we can also treat lots of
symptoms and relief pain as well as treating some psychiatric problems like
PTSD (Post traumatic Stress Disorder).

Needed:

1- Most necessary life saving meds and supplies including portable ECG,
Ultrasound and defibrillator machines ( machines will be borrowed from the
hospital where zaid works)

2. 6000 to 10000 USD
for supplies to treat around 800 to 1200
patients

3. 2 to 4 assistants needed (we are looking into getting only qualified assistants) Otherwise they would have to be fount in Haiti

3. we need an arrangement to setup our tents where we sleep at night in a
safe place.

4. we will need to hire a vehicle for transportation

5. finally a round trip plane ticket from Guangzhou, China to Haiti

in total we are trying to raise 20,000 - 30,000 USD

Regards
YRAC TEAM & Dr.Zaid Alshawaf

I can donate a little something. $20,000 to $30,000 is not that much money IF we get this message out to ENOUGH PEOPLE. zIf everyone donates a little bit, we can go VERY FAR with this. Inshallah I will continue t spread this messaage to as many people as possible!
