Muslim Community YOU R A CREATOR

In Islam women are suppose to wear the hijab and everything else is for the husband to see. I agree on that but i honestly feel that being wrapped up all the time is unrealistic to me. i feel that as long as a woman dresses modestly then it should be okay. i think that any one can wear the khimar/hijab at anytime and any point but doesnt have that spiritual vail on the inside. For that reason thats why i dont wear it unless i have to pray which is at home or at the mosque. I know regarless if i wear it or not i will have that spiritual vail at all times becasue it will never go away So is it a sin?

Dear Sister Amani, and to all who posted, As salaamu-alaikum. Thank you Amani for asking the controversial question on whether to wear hijab outside the home or not. It amazes me how this topic, surely will bring strong opinions, even though it is not listed as a "Sin" in Al Islam...I find that very interesting. I applaud you for being honest and dealing with a very real subject in our ummah. I personally know of several good, sound, intelligent, devout believing Muslimah's some of whom are Hajjis, who do not wear hijab in public at all times. I do not wear hijab at all times either. I wear hijab 85% of the time, but when I want my hair to breathe and get air, especially when I exercise at the roller skating rink, (my exercise of choice) I go uncovered. My body however is always covered modestly. Just know sis, that Allah swt, is the final Judge and to Him alone must we give account for our actions. Not to man, as you have so eloquently stated in your comments. Amani, try not to worry about what people think of you, worry about what Allah swt thinks of you and only "He" knows the heart. Remember, "None of us will enter paradise until we have faith, and we will not have faith until we practice loving one another"... Not condemning one another, but loving one another. Whether you wear your head covered or not, you are my sister and I love you either way. I am not the Judge. You come across as a very sincere sister and intelligent so I don't need to quote Quran to you, I am sure you can quote it as well as I can :-) We have the Quran, the sunnah, ahadith, and if you identified with the late leader, Imam W. Deen Mohammed, we have his tafsir for guidance. Imam Mohammed was a wise leader. When 911 occurred in NY, our Imam, advised the Muslimah's in his assocation to "take off the headpieces' and blend in with society so that we would not become "targets." Some Muslims were severly beaten immediately following 911. By the way, your picture does not expose your cleavege... cleavege is the low-cut area immediately above the breast. And the sister that criicized you was incorrect... Have a good day my beautiful beloved sister and "do you" :-)

"Always keep in mind, sisters, that ultimately ALLAH (swt) is the only judge... Strive to do the best you can for HIM and HIM alone. Keep your head up when people try to criticize but always keep an open mind to the things that people say. It might help you to improve yourself..." -Muslimah2Muslimah
